The Río Claro basin narrates its history since time immemorial through the stones and the species that inhabit it. It is a very diverse and unique territory that has undergone many changes and invites us to reflect on life on our planet and our role in it.

Many of these are in the process of extinction due to deforestation and habitat destruction. Among them are several endemic species, such as the Mico Titi, the Paujil, Torito and Catrappie birds, the Bocachico fish and the Patalo fish. In addition, during the 20th century, several large mammals such as the jaguar and the danta became extinct in the region because of indiscriminate hunting.
In addition to the above, this area has great importance thanks to the fact that it presents very particular geological phenomena. The Claro River basin has undergone many changes that have led it to have unique characteristics and very relevant to the region's wealth. Long ago it was a shallow coast, bordered by a coral reef. It is also possible to observe the dynamics of the Palestine fault and its predecessors, which left multiple folds with unusual shapes between the marble walls. In addition, from geological and biological processes derived from the river basin, different formations such as marble slopes, cliffs, caverns, stalactites, stalagmites and hillsides originated. These characteristics allow forests to grow on very particular soil conditions leading to very diverse life forms.
